How many applications can I download on to the device?
The internal memory of the Nokia 770 Internet Tablet set the limit to the amount of applications that can be downloaded on to the device. RS-MMC cannot be used as storage for applications. There is roughly about 50MB of free memory on the device for new applications.
Are applications made for OS 2005 edition at maemo.org compatible with Internet Tablet OS 2006 edition?
No, applications made for OS 2005 edition at maemo.org are not compatible with the Internet Tablet OS 2006 edition.
Maemo is a developer platform that supports Internet Tablet OS editions. Applications made for OS 2005 edition are mostly developed using maemo 1.1 version which is compatible only with the Internet Tablet OS 2005 edition. The new version, maemo 2.0, supports application development for the Internet Tablet OS 2006 edition. The beta version of Maemo 2.0 version was launched in June 2006. Internet call is based on the voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) that allows you to make and receive calls over the Internet.
What is Voice over IP, VoIP?
Internet calling is often referred to as VoIP. VoIP stands for Voice over Internet Protocol (IP). VoIP refers to a class of technologies that enable the routing of voice calls over the Internet or any other IP network. VoIP is not a service, but a technology enabler used to implement services.
What is Instant Messaging?
Instant messaging application allows you to instantly communicate with people over the Internet. Instant Messaging differs from e-mail in that conversations are able to happen in realtime. Most services offer a presence information feature, indicating whether people on one's list of contacts are currently online and available to chat. Instant Messaging is often also referred to as chat.
Which Internet calling and Instant messaging client does the Internet Tablet OS 2006 edition support?

User can either use the loudspeaker on the device or standard 3.5mm headphones to listen to an Internet call. The voice is captured by the high sensitive microphone situated in the bottom of the device.
Internet calling feature is not optimized to be used with external loudspeakers. The Nokia 770 does not require nor support microphone functionality in headsets.

What is the Home View in the Nokia 770 Internet Tablet?
In the Internet Tablet OS 2006 edition the home view provides the user with quick access to selected items such as RSS Feed Reader, Internet radio, Quick contacts, Google Search, favorite web shortcut or clock. The user is able to configure which of the elements are visible and where they are placed on the Home view.
What is panning?
Viewer applications such as Web browser, Image viewer and PDF viewer allow the user to move the content on the screen by dragging the content with stylus or finger.
How can I do zooming?
User can do zooming either by using the zooming icons (+, -) on the screen, by using the physical zoom buttons (+, -) on top of the device or by choosing zooming from the applications context-sensitive menu.
How can I use the stylus for writing with Nokia 770 Internet Tablet?
There are two options to use the stylus that comes with Nokia 770 Internet Tablet. You can write either by tapping the on-screen keyboard or by writing with the stylus on the screen and making use of the handwriting recognition ability.
What is a full-screen finger keyboard?
The full-screen finger keyboard enables a convenient way of writing longer text, for example email, by using fingers with the Nokia 770 internet Tablet. The full-screen finger keyboard opens in the full screen mode. Buttons and functions are displayed similarly to the other text input methods; the size of the buttons is bigger and not all of the special characters are available. User can begin text input with the finger keyboard, by tapping the text input field with a finger. The finger keyboard opens in the full screen mode.
What is the difference between the on-screen keyboard and handwriting recognition?
The on-screen keyboard is a small QWERTY interface that appears on the screen of the device. Using the stylus that comes with Nokia 770 Internet Tablet, you can use the on-screen keyboard to tap in the characters you want to enter. Handwriting recognition is a method where the movement of the pen is recorded and compared to a library of characters. When a match is found, the character is input to the text field.
How does the handwriting recognition work?
When the handwriting recognition is turned on, you can write with the stylus on the screen, using your personal handwriting style. To input text with the handwriting recognition, tap the area on the screen where you want to write and start writing the characters.
How do I train the device to understand my handwriting style?
The device recognizes several different writing styles, but you can also train the device to recognize your personal style with the training program located in the Control panel of the device.

In general, the Web browser is for viewing web content from Internet servers and the local file system. It enables the user to do all basic tasks related to browsing the Internet: accessing, viewing, bookmarking and saving web content.

What is a RSS Feed Reader?

Nokia 770 Internet Tablet has a RSS Feed Reader that enables you to order RSS and Atom XML news feeds from websites chosen by you. In order to receive and update news feeds an Internet connection needs to be established. Reading the received news feeds is possible also off-line.
Can I listen to music with Nokia 770 Internet Tablet?
Yes. You can listen to Internet radio or stream music from the Internet. You can also load MP3 or other files onto the device memory or the Reduced-size Multimedia Card (RS-MMC) and use the Music Player application to play music.
What is Internet radio?
Internet radio is a broadcasting service transmitted via the Internet. Nokia 770 Internet tablet enables you to listen to an Internet radio station. In order to be able to listen to Internet radio an Internet connection needs to be established.
Can I listen to podcasts with Nokia 770 Internet Tablet?
Yes. 770 can play any mp3 files including podcasts. However, you need to manually download the podcasts.
How do I listen to Internet radio?
Internet Radio channels can be listened directly from the Internet Radio applet in the Home screen of Nokia 770 Internet Tablet. You can also access the channels from the Web Browser just by clicking such a link on a web site or by manually opening the channel in the Audio Player. In order to be able to listen to the Internet radio an Internet connection needs to be established.
Can I view images with Nokia 770 Internet Tablet?
Yes. You can view images with the Image viewer application. You can download images onto the device or the Reduced-size Multimedia Card (RS-MMC).
Can I view videos with Nokia 770 Internet Tablet?
